The Hikvision iDS-7208HUHI-M2/PXT combines detailed CCTV recording, intelligent human and vehicle detection, and Power over Coax support in one 8 channel PoC DVR. Power over Coax
PoC supplies power to compatible Hikvision cameras through their coaxial video connection. The datasheet specifies support for 8 AT-mode PoC cameras on this 8-channel recorder, subject to compatible cameras and suitable cabling.
Hikvision’s PoC classifications define a maximum camera operating power of 10W for AT mode and 6W for AF mode. These are PoC camera power classifications, separate from IEEE Ethernet PoE standards.
Standard non-PoC cameras require a suitable separate power supply. PoC power support and two-way audio support are separate compatibility checks.
8MP Recording and 4K Local Display
The recorder supports 8MP recording at up to 8fps. Other main-stream options include 3K and 5MP at 12fps, 4MP and 8MP Lite at 15fps, and 3MP at 18fps. At 1080p, recording supports up to 25fps for PAL or 30fps for NTSC.
The HDMI output supports 4K at 30Hz for a suitable local display. Camera input frame rates, recording frame rates and display output are separate specifications; 4K HDMI output does not mean every camera records at 4K at 30fps.
AcuSense Human and Vehicle Detection
Motion Detection 2.0 is enabled by default across all analogue channels. Deep-learning analysis classifies people and vehicles, helping reduce false alarms caused by irrelevant movement such as leaves or changes in lighting. Quick searching by object or event type is also supported.
8-Channel AcuSearch
AcuSearch is supported on up to 8 channels, helping you locate relevant targets within supported recordings more efficiently. This is useful when reviewing an incident across several camera views.
Perimeter Protection and Facial Recognition
Advanced analysis supports up to 8-channel perimeter protection or 4-channel facial recognition, depending on the selected operating mode. Facial functions include detection, capture, picture search and comparison alarms, with support for up to 16 face picture libraries.
These figures describe maximum supported capabilities. Available combinations depend on the recorder configuration and connected cameras.
Compatible HDTVI Two-Way Audio
HDTVI two-way audio allows communication through compatible cameras using the coaxial connection. The connected camera must support the required microphone, speaker and audio technology.
The recorder also provides four RCA audio inputs and one RCA audio output. Its separate single-channel RCA two-way audio function uses the first audio input.
Flexible Analogue and IP Camera Support
The recorder accepts HDTVI, AHD, HDCVI, CVBS and IP video. It has 8 physical analogue BNC inputs and supports 8 IP channels, expandable to a maximum of 16 IP channels by converting analogue channels to IP use.
The 16-channel figure is the maximum IP configuration, rather than 16 IP cameras in addition to all 8 analogue cameras. IP cameras require a suitable network connection and their own compatible power or Ethernet PoE arrangement.
Dual Hard Drive Storage and Remote Viewing
This dual HDD CCTV recorder supports two compatible surveillance hard drives up to 12TB each, giving a maximum supported capacity of 24TB. Recording duration depends on installed storage, camera settings, compression and the recording schedule.
Select the required hard drive option when ordering. Choosing No HDD means a suitable hard drive must be installed before footage can be recorded locally. Hik-Connect provides remote viewing once the recorder, network connection and account have been configured.

Installation & Compatibility
Check each camera’s video format, resolution, PoC power mode and audio capabilities before installation. Use suitable coax cabling and connectors for the required resolution and power transmission.
The linked DS-2CE78U0T-LTS camera requires a separate 12V DC power supply and should not be treated as a PoC-powered camera. To use the recorder’s Power over Coax function, choose a compatible Hikvision PoC camera.
The linked Viper Pro 5A four-way power supply is suitable for a compatible group of separately powered cameras, subject to their combined load. It does not provide eight individual camera outputs. Check the linked BNC cable’s suitability for the selected camera resolution; suitability for PoC should be confirmed separately.
The MW3222-V-DT is a Full HD monitor and can be used with a supported Full HD recorder output setting. A suitable 4K display is required to view 4K HDMI output. The DS-1280ZJ-TR13 junction box is an accessory for the linked compatible camera, rather than a mounting base for the DVR.
