Dahua XVR5216AN-4KL-I3 combines sixteen analogue camera inputs, intelligent event detection and two hard-drive bays in one recorder. This Dahua 16 channel DVR supports compatible 8MP cameras, making it a practical upgrade for a coaxial CCTV system where clearer recorded detail is a priority.

WizSense helps you find relevant activity, while compatible audio-equipped cameras add sound to your recordings. Why Choose This Product?
This Dahua WizSense DVR supports HDCVI, AHD, TVI, CVBS and IP cameras, giving you flexibility when replacing an older recorder or expanding a mixed system. Suitable existing coaxial cables can often be retained after checking their condition and compatibility with the selected camera signal.
Sixteen IP channels are available alongside the sixteen analogue inputs as standard. Converting analogue channels allows up to thirty-two IP cameras in total. Two SATA bays provide room to plan recording storage without relying on a single drive.
4K Recording with Clear Frame-Rate Limits
The Dahua XVR5216AN-4KL-I3 accepts compatible 8MP/4K camera signals. With Encode Enhancement switched off, channels 1 and 9 record 4K at up to 15fps, while the other analogue channels record 4K at up to 7fps. Switching enhancement on extends the 15fps capability to channels 1, 5, 9 and 13.
Place cameras covering faster movement on the channels that offer the higher frame rate. Camera input capability, recorded resolution and HDMI display resolution are separate specifications. The recording-mode table below explains the main channel limits and which AI functions are affected by enhancement.
Human & Vehicle Detection
Sixteen-channel SMD Plus helps filter motion alerts for people and vehicles. Perimeter protection provides tripwire and intrusion detection on eight analogue channels in General mode or two in Advanced mode, with up to ten IVS rules per channel.
Configure detection zones around the areas that matter, such as a doorway, gate or loading bay. Test alerts after installation and adjust the rules to suit the view; lighting, camera placement and scene conditions affect detection performance.
QuickPick 2.0 & Additional AI Tools
Two-channel QuickPick 2.0 helps narrow the search for relevant targets. Two-channel face detection and recognition, one-channel Privacy Protection and one-channel EPTZ provide further tools for supported installations. The face database holds up to 20,000 images across ten databases.
Available functions depend on the selected operating mode. Enabling Encode Enhancement or IP extension disables specific analytics, as detailed below. Plan the recording and detection requirements together before selecting these options.
Storage, Audio & Remote Viewing
Each of the two SATA ports supports a compatible hard drive up to 16TB, subject to environmental temperature. AI Coding and Smart H.265+ offer compression options to help manage storage. Recording duration varies with camera count, resolution, frame rate, bitrate and schedule. Confirm your hard-drive requirements when ordering.
Audio over coax works with compatible audio-equipped cameras. HDMI provides local viewing at up to 4K, while VGA supports up to 1080p. Gigabit Ethernet connects the recorder to your network for supported iOS and Android access, and footage can be backed up to a USB device or over the network.

Recording Modes & AI Availability
The following limits apply to analogue-channel encoding. Frame rates are maxima and depend on the selected format and camera signal. Reduced-resolution formats such as 4K-N are different from full 4K recording.

Installation & Compatibility
Connect compatible analogue cameras to the BNC inputs and provide separate camera power. The recorder’s BNC ports do not power the cameras. Match each camera’s output format to the recorder and check cable condition, connector quality and voltage drop before commissioning.
IP cameras require a suitable network and their own power arrangement. Stay within the 128Mbps incoming bandwidth and check the AI restrictions before converting analogue channels to IP. Install the recorder indoors with ventilation and the specified 12V DC, 5A supply.
Choose recording schedules, test playback and verify remote access before completing the installation. For audio recording, use compatible microphones or audio-equipped cameras and enable the appropriate settings.
Complete Your Installation
Pair the recorder with the Dahua HAC-HDW1809T-A-LED 8MP full-colour camera with built-in microphone and a 20m BNC CCTV cable. The Viper Pro 12V 5A camera power supply with four-way splitter is a separate camera-power option. Its four outputs do not cover a sixteen-camera system; allow additional suitably rated power equipment and check the total load.
The Uniview MW3222-V-DT 22-inch Full HD monitor provides local viewing at up to 1080p; use a suitable 4K display if you want the recorder’s full HDMI output resolution. The Dahua PFA130-E junction box is available for compatible camera housings. Confirm the camera’s mounting pattern before ordering. All these accessories are available separately.
