I bought camera for an unconventional purpose, rather than security. I own a weather website, and as part of the set up, I have a live camera feed which looks mostly to the sky, with just the tops of houses in view.
As well as great in daylight, I was after a camera than was specifically good in low light, in particular, being able to see stars.
I did some initial research, and found videos that showed how good this camera was in low light when positioned on streets etc, so I thought I’d give it a try.
Wow! This thing produces an absolutely gorgeous sky image, showing more stars than I can see with my own eyes.
I’ve had the likes of Foscam and Reolink, but images are very noisy and not great in low light, this Hikvision camera blows them out of the water.
I realise that most people will be looking to buy a camera for security purposes, in my view, you will not go wrong with this. Images are crisp and very detailed at 8MP, and you’ll still get a lot of detail in darker situations. If this camera is on your list of ones that you’re considering buying, then go for it, you won’t be disappointed!
