The Hikvision DS-2DF8C842IXG1-ELWY delivers detailed 8MP 4K imaging, powerful 42x optical zoom and infrared illumination reaching up to 500 metres. Designed for large outdoor sites, this professional IP PTZ camera lets operators move from a broad overview to a close-up view of activity across industrial premises, loading yards and perimeter areas.
A large 1/1.2-inch sensor and DarkFighter 2.0 technology improve low-light imaging, while Auto-Tracking 3.0 supports following moving targets. Optical image stabilisation, optical defog and a rain-sensing wiper help maintain usable views in demanding conditions. Face capture, perimeter detection and checkpoint ANPR provide additional tools for a carefully planned security installation.

The ELWY model combines optical image stabilisation and a rain-sensing wiper with moderate anti-corrosion protection. These features support exposed outdoor installations when the mounting structure, power supply and network connection are selected correctly. A PTZ observes the direction it is facing; use additional fixed cameras where continuous coverage of several areas is required.
DarkFighter 2.0 and 500m Infrared Night Vision
As a DarkFighter 4K PTZ camera, this model uses a sensitive 1/1.2-inch sensor and an F1.6 maximum aperture to improve low-light performance. When illumination falls further, its IR cut filter and infrared lighting support black-and-white night imaging.
This 500m IR PTZ camera provides infrared illumination up to the manufacturer’s stated range. Usable detail at a particular distance depends on lens position, target size, weather, lighting and installation. The IR distance is not a guaranteed face or number plate identification distance.
Auto-Tracking 3.0 and Perimeter Detection
The Hikvision DS-2DF8C842IXG1-ELWY supports manual tracking and Auto-Tracking 3.0. Perimeter functions include line crossing, intrusion, region entrance and region exiting detection. Detection areas and tracking settings should be configured for the layout and activity of the site.
For scheduled observation, the camera provides 300 presets, eight patrols with up to 32 presets per patrol, and four recorded pattern scans.
Optical Image Stabilisation and Rain-Sensing Wiper
Optical image stabilisation helps reduce image movement, particularly when viewing distant targets at higher zoom settings. Optical defog, a heater and demist functions provide further support in challenging conditions.
The rain-sensing wiper automatically clears rain from the viewing window. Together, these features help maintain usable images at exposed mounting positions, although a secure mounting structure remains essential.
Face Capture and Checkpoint ANPR
Face capture can detect up to 30 faces simultaneously and select suitable face images from moving subjects. Face comparison supports configured face libraries, while multi-target analysis can capture human bodies, faces and vehicles.
Number plate recognition supports vehicles and motorcycles in checkpoint scenarios. Reliable operation requires suitable positioning, lighting, target size and camera configuration. Recorder or software support should be checked for the specific analytics, search and alarm functions required.

Installation & Compatibility
Use a mounting structure suitable for the camera’s approximately 9.6kg weight and the conditions at the installation site. The specified wall bracket is DS-4603ZJ-PAAC. For corner mounting, the datasheet shows DS-1276ZJ-P-Y combined with DS-4603ZJ-PAAC. The pendant option is DS-4612ZJ-PAAC.
Power the camera using a suitable 36V DC supply or IEEE 802.3bt Type 3 Class 6 PoE source. Standard PoE or PoE+ recorder ports should not be assumed to meet this requirement. Check the power source, cable specification, cable length and total power budget before installation.
Choose a compatible recorder with sufficient incoming bandwidth, recording frame-rate support and storage capacity for the selected camera settings. Confirm support for the analytics you intend to use; basic video recording does not automatically provide every camera-side event or search function. A connected monitor displays the recorder’s output at the resolution supported by that monitor.

- Recording: The Hikvision DS-7604NXI-K1/4P is a four-channel recording option to discuss with our team. Check your intended 8MP recording settings, frame rate, bandwidth and analytics requirements. Its built-in PoE ports must not be assumed to power this camera; provide a suitable separate 802.3bt source or 36V DC supply.
- Network cable: A 20m outdoor solid-copper CAT5 cable provides a ready-made Ethernet connection. Confirm suitability for the chosen power arrangement and installation distance.
- Monitor: Add the MW3222-V-DT monitor for a local viewing screen connected to your recorder. Check the monitor’s supported input and display resolution when planning your system; a 4K camera does not make every connected monitor a 4K display.
- Camera power: Ask us about a suitable IEEE 802.3bt Type 3 Class 6 power source or 36V DC supply.
